Where to find the toilets, a cash machine, the post office, the pharmacy and the doctor in Thornton-le-Dale, and where to go when the village cannot help. Each facility has its own short block: where it is, what it offers and a link. Opening hours change, so check before you travel.
Public toilets
Where: Beside the lake, by the Maltongate car park (sat-nav YO18 7SD). The North York Moors National Park lists the public toilets as "near the lake", and the North Yorkshire Council toilet directory lists "Lakeside toilets, Thornton-le-Dale, Maltongate".
Operator: The North York Moors National Park Authority says it maintains the accessible toilet.
Opening and charges: Opening times and any charge are not published for this site. The Authority says its toilets are generally open daily, 7.30am to 5.30pm, but treat that as a guide only and check the National Park website before you travel.
Accessible toilet: Yes. The Authority lists "Thornton le Dale, Lakeside" among its accessible toilets. It is part of the RADAR National Key Scheme, so you need a RADAR key. The Authority says keys can be bought at its centres at Danby Lodge and Sutton Bank, Whitby Tourist Information Centre, or Scarborough Customer First Centre (weekdays only).
