Bangers & Cash Live and Mathewsons Live

The first Bangers & Cash Live ran on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 August 2023 at Scampston Hall, near Malton, a few miles from Thornton-le-Dale. The weekend brought live question and answer sessions with Derek, Dave, Paul and the Bangers & Cash crew, cars and bikes from past and coming episodes and from the family's own collections, displays by classic car clubs, music, children's activities and local food.

It was the first Mathewsons auction held in front of an audience since 2020, with Derek auctioning selected vehicles and memorabilia over two afternoons, and tickets sold out. Air TV reported about 6,000 visitors. The Classic Valuer reports the sale made £255,770 including fees; its highest result was a 1987 Porsche 911 that sold for £31,500 including fees (The Classic Valuer, August 2023 sale summary).

The event returned to Scampston Hall, Malton, YO17 8NG, on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August 2024. It sold out, with a live auction of classic cars and memorabilia, question and answer sessions, cars from the programme, music and food.

UKTV filmed the weekend for a one-off programme, Bangers & Cash: Live, narrated by Toby Foster and free to stream on U from 29 August 2024; our where to watch page has the detail. Visitors reported heavy traffic on the roads around the hall, so allow extra time for any future event.

Mathewsons said in February 2025 that Bangers & Cash Live would not take place that year.

Renamed Mathewsons Live, the event moved to the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, HG2 8NZ, on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2026. The programme included a live auction the public could watch, Mathewsons question and answer sessions on the main stage, rally stage demonstrations, a classic car show, live music from The Ragdolls, The Bluebird Belles and Let Luce, a funfair and food and drink. No date or venue had been published when we checked on 20 October 2026. Mathewsons announces the event on its website. We will add it here when it is announced.

• Book ahead, as both Scampston weekends sold out.
• Arrive early and expect queues on the roads.
• If you take a classic car, the club and exhibitor routes have been the way in.
• The Sunday has tended to be the quieter day.
• There is no auction audience at Pickering on normal sale days, so a live weekend is the only chance to watch the bidding in person.
