Dave Mathewson is one of Derek Mathewson's two sons, a director of Mathewsons and a regular on Bangers & Cash since the first series.
Who Dave is
Dave, Derek's other son, is also a director of the business and has appeared in every series. His tastes lean towards the cars of his youth. As a teenager, all he wanted for his first car was a 2 litre Cortina Ghia, and in series 12 he finally collected one, in Nottinghamshire. He has a soft spot for Raleigh Choppers and Honda C90s, and he has put a Citroën 2CV on his wish list. He doesn't shy away from a challenge either: in series 13 he took on a 26-tonne Mercedes fire engine. UKTV's 2020 "Meet Dave Mathewson" special asked him about cars and about life on television.

- Series 3: two classic British cars and a BMW Isetta bubble car from Manchester.
- Series 3: a supercharged Ford Sierra Cosworth from Wales.
- Series 11: a 1965 Land Rover.
- Series 12: the 2 litre Cortina Ghia he had wanted as a teenager, from Nottinghamshire.
- Series 13: a 26-tonne Mercedes fire engine, and a large collection in Hull with Paul and Charlie, where he tried a Tesla Model X.

In the family business
Dave is a director of Mathewsons Classic Cars Ltd, according to Companies House. His son Jack also appears on the programme. In August 2026 he met fans with Derek and Paul at the first Mathewsons Live at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, as reported by the Scarborough News.
