Episode 8 aired on U&Yesterday on Thursday 10 September 2026. The broadcaster's listing has Derek travelling to Southwold for a Hillman Avenger and Dave collecting a sought-after Alfa Romeo, in Rotherham according to one listing. The episode title adds a Messerschmitt three-wheeler, a Suzuki sand bike and a Reliant Robin.
The cars
- Hillman Avenger
- Rootes' and then Chrysler's family saloon of 1970 to 1976 as a Hillman, 638,631 built in all, later sold as a Chrysler and from 1980 as a Talbot. Engines ran from 1.25 to 1.6 litres.
- Messerschmitt KR200
- Fritz Fend's tandem-seat three-wheeler, built at Regensburg from 1955 to 1964 with a 191cc Fichtel and Sachs two-stroke and a top speed of about 65 mph. Roughly 40,000 were made; 12,000 sold in 1955 alone.
- Alfa Romeo GTV6
- the Alfetta GTV with Alfa's 2.5 litre Busso V6 of 160 horsepower and a rear transaxle, built from 1980 to 1987 in a Giugiaro body. It won the European Touring Car Championship four years running from 1982 to 1985.
- Suzuki sand bike
- the listing gives no model.
- Reliant Robin
- the Ogle-designed three-wheeler of November 1973, with a 750cc and then an 850cc engine, built at Tamworth until the works closed in 1998, with the last car collected on 14 February 2001.
What they made
Mathewsons' published results include a 1973 Hillman Avenger sold for £8,600 and a 1960 Messerschmitt KR200 sold for £15,250, both on 12 November 2025, and a 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 sold for £16,400 on 6 February 2026; each is the only car of its kind the firm sold in the period, so we take them to be the cars in this episode. Three Reliant Robins went through the saleroom in 2025, so we hold that figure. No published result has been found for the Suzuki.
