Episode 5 aired on U&Yesterday on Thursday 20 August 2026. The broadcaster's listing has Derek picking up three classics, including a sought-after BMW 2002, from what it calls a grand aristocratic estate. The episode title adds an Aston Martin DB6, a Land Rover, a Citroen Traction Avant, a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Jeep.

The cars
- BMW 2002
- the two-door saloon that made BMW's name in the late 1960s, built from 1968 to 1976; the name means two litres and two doors. The tii of 1971 to 1975 had Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and 130 horsepower, and about 3,700 of the roughly 40,000 tii built were right-hand drive, by one count.
- Aston Martin DB6
- built at Newport Pagnell from 1965 to 1971, the longest run of any David Brown Aston, with a four litre twin-cam six of 282 horsepower, or 325 in Vantage form. Sources give between 1,567 and 1,967 built, depending on whether the Mk2 and the Volante are counted. Derek Mathewson told Classic and Sports Car in 2022 that he bought his own DB6 from a Luton salvage yard in the late 1980s for £5,000.
- Citroen Traction Avant
- front-wheel drive, a monocoque body and all-round independent suspension in 1934, when most cars had none of them. Production ended on 25 July 1957 after 759,123 cars. The Familiale is the long-wheelbase version with a third row of seats.
- Land Rover
- the listing gives no year or series. The original was shown at Amsterdam in April 1948 and about 214,000 Series I vehicles were built by 1958, with aluminium panels because steel was rationed.
- Lamborghini Gallardo
- the V10 car that saved Lamborghini, built from 2003 to 2013; 14,022 were made, more than any other Lamborghini before it.
- Jeep
- the listing gives no model. If it is a wartime Willys MB or Ford GPW, more than 600,000 were built between 1941 and 1945 with the 60 horsepower Go Devil engine.
What they made
Mathewsons' published results include a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 sold for £190,000 on 30 July 2025, the only DB6 the firm sold in the period, so we take it to be the car in this episode. A 1972 BMW 2002 tii whose catalogue note says it was collected by Mathewsons from a large country estate sold for £12,500 on 25 June 2025; that wording matches the episode and we treat it as the car shown. Two 1953 Traction Avants went through the saleroom, so we give no figure for that car yet. Several Land Rovers were sold and we cannot pick one. No published result has been found for the Gallardo or the Jeep.
